iPad: How do I change my Lock Code

The lock code (called "passcode") needs to be entered to unlock and use the iPad.

The passcode must be between 4 and 8 digits long.

Follow these steps to change your passcode:

  1. Unlock your iPad :-)
  2. Press the Home button to get out of your current app.
  3. Find and tap the "Settings" icon. (swipe sideways to get to the second page of apps where the Settings app is located)
  4. Tap the "General" option.
  5. Scroll down and tap the "Passcode Lock" option.
  6. For protection, it will prompt you for the current passcode: enter it.
  7. Tap the "Change Passcode" option.
  8. It will again prompt you for the current (old) passcode: enter it.
  9. It will prompt you for your new passcode: enter it CAREFULLY and then tap Next
  10. It will prompt you to re-enter your new passcode: enter it CAREFULLY and then tap Done
  11. Tap the "General" option near the top to leave this area.
  12. Press the Home button to get out of the Settings app.

Do NOT forget your new passcode!
